I am pleased to announce that Peter Bemisderfer has accepted the position of Director of Purchasing and will be succeeding David Hodgin when he retires at the end of January. Over the next month Peter will be transitioning out of his current role and then working closely with David until the end of January. As previously mentioned, David will stay on as a consultant until at least the end of July 2019, maybe longer.
I am particularly pleased about this promotion as Peter was one of the first people we hired into our fledgling Manager in Training (MIT) program back in March 2008. Over the last 10 years Peter started in the warehouse in Greenville, got his CDL license, was in inside sales in Greenville, was a driver in Charlotte, and was operations manager in Myrtle Beach before returning to Greenville. He has literally come up every rung of the ladder and this will prepare him well for his new position.
We started the MIT program to “grow” our next generation of leaders in-house so it is particularly rewarding to me to see Peter go from a recent college graduate to Director of Purchasing in just 10 years. I think this illustrates that we promote on merit, not on length of service. I hope this will encourage other young associates to consider New South as a career, not just a job.
Please join me in congratulating Peter on this well-earned promotion.
